Telling the Truth

Email from Paul Lowe

…I get reports about stuff coming up for people, then get further reports that the persons personal behaviour has not changed.

“Seeing the dark side” and, “having stuff come up” is interesting, but if nothing changes in the basic behaviour it means… nothing has changed.

So instead of generic terms, like “seeing stuff from the past” and “seeing my dark side,” we need to be more specific, and honest. like —
“seeing the ways I try to control people”
“seeing how I want to be treated as special”
“seeing how I do not tell the truth when it does not suit me”
“getting angry or manipulative when I am not getting what I want”
And so on and so on and so on. Telling the truth, the way it is — at least to yourself.

And by the truth, I mean the truth. The real truth. And in the details. Not the way you would like you and others to see you, but the way you really, really are. And if you are not sure — go to a sharing group and ask people how they are experiencing you.

And if not, it doesn’t matter. Your life is your life. The truth does set you free though, and freedom is a very delightful sensation.
