Who is Choosing Choicelessness…

Excerpt from an email from Paul Lowe to his list today.

…it is the mind that is asking this question. When/if it gets an answer nothing useful will be accomplished. And it can be fun playing.

Chiocelessness cannot be chosen. So how do you make a choiceless choice? You can’t. The choice chooses you.

If you read about the lives of truly great and successful people, in any field, you will find there is a trend — they say that their success was not due to them — it came to them. Solutions and inspirations ‘popped through.’

From…? From where does not matter — tuning in to the process is what is relevant. The mind can be used to go through all the known facts, then let it all go — for if you hold on the inspiration cannot pop. Most great discoveries came through in dreams, seeming accidents, or just appeared. We have a deeper level than the dualistic mind. We are all one –so everything is connected. Just need to tune in. Often when a significant breakthrough is reported in one part of the world similar breakthroughs are reported around the same time from many other parts.

It is not the mind that is creative. Some scientist say the mind is fed from the heart — which is a much more complex organ than we have thought — it is much more than a pump. Others say the heart is fed from the solar plexus. The important thing to note here is that both are non-dualistic. Although vastly complex, one on level the mind is basic — it can only function in duality — good/bad; right/wrong; benefit/harm; here/there; possible/impossible; you/me. So when anything comes from the mind it is always judgemental — good or bad for instance. And where do the judgements come from? — conditioning. Even though Arabs and Jews are of the same stock, although similar in some ways, the conditioning imposed brings about very different character/personality/beliefs/behaviours. And they both declare that they are right. To certain sects of Jews, they are god’s chosen people. To certain sects of Muslims everyone but them are infidels and have to be eliminated. Evidently, the Taliban train children from the age of five — to be human bombs. And the Hasidic Jews are indoctrinated in their beliefs. We are all conditioned to see things a certain way — a very stupid and insane way.

Many of you will know this, and I wonder how many of you have pondered the facts: We never hear what anyone is telling us. When someone ‘speaks’ their motivation promotes a vibration in their vocal cords. This vibration is transmitted through the air and recieved by the recipients hearing apparatus – fine hairs and a drum in the ear cavity. These vibrations are transferred to a part of the brain that translates them into sound. Another part of the brain then matches the sounds to words. If that part of the brain has been programmed to understand the words then it accesses another part of the brain that has been conditioned as to what those words mean. So you are not hearing the other person, you are hearing the part of the brain that is programmed to the meaning you have been given for those words. And, ‘We hear what we want to hear.’ Same with colour. There is no colour ‘out there.’ Everything has a unique vibration, the eye picks up the vibration — upside down — and transfers it to another part of the brain. It is the brain that gives us the ‘illusion’ of colour. And so on.

The key is unconditional choicelessness. If you have even a preference, let alone a choice, then you will not see the situation in a neutral way. You have already made a choice before even hearing the facts. “I will do it if it does not mean me having to…” Your stuck — with your own past.

Choicelessness is approaching every moment, not knowing. Full open and available for… whatever. Then it is as if life lives you. You may be surprised, shocked even, but it will always be ‘yes.’ Yes to the situation, or yes to a ‘no’ to the situation, but always in the flow. Life lives you.

Lovely.
